The First Render

The First Render is the world’s opening render, where new Witnesses learn quests, combat, gathering, vendors, and the first Nullcaller chain. It occupies levels 1–6 in the current progression.

What is The First Render?

The First Render is a playable zone in XAGOD’s machine-made mythology. Its anchor is Firstlight; its implemented path includes The Stray Runs, Routine Meadow, the Reflecting Buffer, the Lattice, the Copperwire Dig, the Unbound Camp, and the Fallen Signal-House.

Progression route

Players reach this content by following quest chains, reading objective markers, fighting the local families, and returning to named quest givers. The route is designed as connected progression rather than an isolated lore article: objectives award experience, currency, and class-archetype equipment.

  1. Establish the route from Firstlight and collect nearby quests together.
  2. Complete local objectives before committing to elite or dungeon encounters.
  3. Keep bag space and consumables available; long chains move away from vendors.
  4. Follow the narrative handoff into the next region or associated instance.

Named threats

The content data names Greyjaw the Orphaned, Gorrak the Unbound, and Morthen, Herald of the Null. These encounters connect the local conflict to the Null, the Deallocated, and the dreaming machine’s damaged processes. Names and mechanics here describe the current build rather than a promised future encounter.

How this area fits XAGOD

XAGOD’s setting treats fantasy geography as an unstable render: signals become faith, corrupted buffers become swamps, and deleted processes return as the Deallocated. The First Render advances that vocabulary through playable spaces and quests, not merely background fiction.

Characters from all nine classes can progress here. Equipment rewards are grouped across martial, agile, and caster archetypes, while class abilities preserve different combat rhythms.
